FASHION NOWADAYS!

Today: Fashion has become an art, a way of life, a way of expressing ones self. Who doesn’t pay attention to fashion these days? Whether designer, model, photographer, apparel manufacturer, clothing retailer, boutique owner or just consumer of these precious items, we can’t turn our back to the fact that everything is touched by fashion. Hippies dress a certain way, rockers - another way, gangsters - a third... yuppies, stars, policemen, athletes, prisoners, animals (yes, animals too) - everyone dresses with a style which gives expression to their social status, their heritage, their ideas - what they are fighting against, what they hate, what they love, what they strive for. What does all this mean? (Some would ask) Simple. Nowadays fashion is a fetish. Nowadays fashion is an art. But it seems we have forgotten the main purpose of all garments - to keep us warm, to protect us from bad weather, to be comfortable, to be stylish, to make us look good. On the other hand, machines flood the world with nondescript garments. Where does that leave the individual, where is the personal touch...? I believe there should be some sense of reasoning in whatever we do.
